How to Get Rid of Static in Your Hair

Winters are not only extremely cold, but they are dry as well. The extra ordinary cold air can not carry much moisture in it. Because of this cold and dry air, our hair gets crazy! When I say crazy, I mean full of static. Trying to control the static in your hair can be frustrating.

Based on the Random House Dictionary, the definition of static electricity is a stationary electric charge built up on an insulating material.

Insulating material including fleece jackets, wools hats, acrylic socks, along with many other of our winter apparel combined with our dry skin can create static.  But before you chuck all of your favorite winter garb, you might first want to try some preventative measures to control the static in your hair.

Here a some ideas to control the static in your hair........

♦ Keep your hair moisturized with hydrating shampoo and conditioners. Try not to wash it everyday.

♦Use an antistatic ion blow dryer and antistatic ion hairbrushes.

♦Run a little smoothing serum or an oil treatment through your hair after it is dry, even regular hand or body lotion has been known to work.

♦ Finish your hairstyle off with a little hairspray, you could even put some in your hands or hairbrush first and then run it through.

♦Wear rubber soled shoes and take care not to scoot your feet across the floor.

♦Run an unscented dryer sheet over your hair and carry it with you, because you can use it throughout the day.

Not only do we have to endure snow and freezing temperatures in the winter time, we have to deal with static in our hair in our hair as well.  With a little effort static is something that we can control. So good luck controlling the static and stay warm!
